The developers of TikTok are interested in making as many people as possible aware of this platform. But many have old or weak phones, on which the mobile application simply does not start or “slows down” a lot. Especially for such cases, Tik Tok Lite was released. This is a special version of the application, which is less demanding on the device. In this article we will talk about it in more detail, dwelling on the installation and nuances of use.

At the moment, the “lite” version of TikTok is only available for Android devices. It is not available on the iPhone and iPad, but this is due to the fact that Apple devices have sufficient performance. Now we will deal with its features, and then we will move on to the installation procedure.

The standard version of TikTok for Android takes at least 100 MB of memory, for a Lite application, 15 MB will be enough (this does not include downloading additional effects, masks, etc.). At the same time, it loads less on a smartphone and tablet, which means it is suitable for old or very budget devices.

But this optimization comes at the cost of cutting some features. Let’s briefly go through them:

• Initially, the user can only view videos. To add, you need to download a special toolkit (done in literally one click).
• All effects will also have to be loaded separately.
• Application may run with stutters in general, something may not be displayed immediately.
• View statistics will not be available.
• And so on.

Installation procedure

In most cases, the application can be installed from the Play Store. But on some devices, this option will not work, for example, due to a “Not supported” error or for some other reason. Then you should use the APK file designed to install applications bypassing the store.

Option #1: Play Store

Consider step by step instructions:

1. Find the “Play Market” store icon on the desktop of your smartphone or tablet, and then tap on it. It can also be in the menu of all applications.
2. The search bar is located at the top of the screen. Click on it to activate it.
3. Enter TikTok Lite using the virtual keyboard.
4. Select the top hint from the list to be taken to the results page.
5. Click the “Install” button next to the desired application.
6. Confirm the procedure if requested by the system.
7. Open TikTok Lite on the same page.

Option #2: APK file

It is worth resorting to this option only if the previous one does not suit you for some reason. The idea is that all Android apps are stored as APK files that can be manually installed without using the “Play Market” store.

In the case of our application, the instruction will be as follows:

1. Download the latest version of TikTok Lite as apk- file.
2. Move it to your mobile device, for example via a USB connection to a PC.
3. Launch any file manager on Android and open this apk in it.
4. Allow the installation if the procedure is interrupted by the security system.
5. Wait for it to finish.

The interface of the application is familiar, but initially the user can only view other people’s videos. To upload your own, you must first download the Author’s Toolkit. This is very easy to do – just click on the plus sign on the bottom bar.All effects, sounds and masks will also have to be downloaded separately, which will increase the overall size of the application.

There is a useful function in the settings “Save traffic”, which will reduce the consumption of Internet traffic and speed up the download of videos, but at the same time their quality will decrease. Activate it like this:

1. Visit the “Me” tab from the bottom bar.
2. Click on the “Menu” three-dot icon.
3. Turn on the Traffic Saver slider.

There is also a button “Clear cache”, with which you can quickly erase temporary files and free up space on your device.

Possible problems

Often, users complain that the application may be unstable. Basically, it’s about:

• No incoming messages.
• The lists in the “Favorites” section are not loading.
• Updating too often.
• And much more.

Basically, the “Clear cache” function helps in solving problems, and in exceptional cases, a complete reinstallation of the application.

If you are faced with too frequent updates, then you can turn them off. For this:

1. Go to the store «Play Market».
2. Go to the TikTok Lite page using the search function.
3. Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the upper right corner.
4. Uncheck “Auto Refresh”.
