How to make a transparent profile picture on Tik Tok

When scrolling through videos in the TikTok app, you may notice that some users have a strange avatar display. In theory, it should completely cover the content of the video, but for some reason it is partially or completely transparent, only the usual white circle is normally displayed. This is quite an interesting effect that you can add to your profile as well. Let’s figure out how to make a transparent avatar in TikTok.

Adding a custom avatar

The TikTok application is designed in such a way that when watching a video, the author’s avatar is superimposed on top, inside a round frame. If it’s a fully transparent image, the frame will appear to be empty.

How to achieve such a result? Everything is very simple – you need to take a suitable image or make it yourself, and then add it to your profile. First we will consider the option with full transparency, and then – with partial.

Fully transparent user avatar

To achieve the desired result, you need to take a blank picture and upload it as a TikTok thumbnail. Of course, you can find and download it somewhere, but on the phone it’s easier to do everything yourself using the application.

Step-by-step instruction:

1. Launch the app store provided on the device.
2. Find and download a free Picsart photo editor.
3. Next, run it and click the Skip button on the login page.
4. Unsubscribe by tapping cross.
5. Alternately tap the Continue and Proceed buttons.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the list of tools.
7. Select the grid icon in the Colored Backgrounds block.
8. Tap on the checked icon in the upper right corner:
9. Close ads.
10. On the new page, check Gallery.
11. Wait for the save notification and minimize the Picsart window.

All that remains is to add a new avatar to TikTok. For this:

1. Open the mobile app.
2. Visit the profile tab.
3. Click the “Change…” button.
4. Now select Edit Photo.
5. In the context menu, click on “Select from gallery”.
6. Tick “empty” image.
7. Tap the OK button in the bottom right corner.
8. Press the button “Save”.

It remains only to restart the application and see what has changed. To do this, open any of your videos and look at the area where the white frame is located.

Creating a partially transparent avatar

You can take any picture, partially cut out its contents to get transparency, and then add it to Tik Tok. The easiest way to do this is directly on a mobile device, through one of the many applications with similar functionality.

As an example, we will take Background Eraser, which is available for free for Android in the “Play Market” and for iOS in the App Store. Download it and immediately after launch, providing all the necessary rights. Next, follow these steps:

1. Activate Load a photo.
2. Select an appropriate image from the device gallery.
3. Crop it to your liking and hit Done.
4. Now cut out the background as you like.

Here it is worth remembering that in the end this picture will become a round avatar of small sizes, which will be displayed on top of the video in the recommendation feed. So, cut out the background wisely, bypassing the edges and focusing on the center.

The Manual mode is active by default. By moving the red dot across the screen, you will smoothly cut out the content. But there are several more modes:

• Magic is a “smart” cut based on the objects in the frame.
• Auto – specify the specific object to be cut.
• Repair – repair.
• Zoom – zooming in on the frame for more convenient work.

All changes made can be canceled by tapping on the curved arrow “back”. And when you’re done, click the Done button.Now you can mark how smooth the borders will be (from 0 to 5) and save the image by clicking Save and Finish and then skipping the ad.

It remains only to upload the resulting image as a profile thumbnail, restart the application, open one of your videos and see how everything looks.
